I began my career at Cineplex, a film institution with a long history in the theatrical Canadian market. Starting as a production designer in 2014 and eventually working my way up the ladder into art direction, I had the pleasure to be a part of numerous campaigns over the years, culminating in an entire brand refresh in 2021, which is the main project explored in detail below.

Total Rehaul.

After years of adding programs and complicating our lookfeel, Cineplex was at a point where they needed to simplify and reign in the brand guidelines. A streamlined refresh was needed to take control of the brand's equity in the Canadian market, and so our team embarked on a weeks-long exploration into what the new Cineplex would look like.

We identified several areas that needed refinement; the logo needed modularity and flexibility, the palette needed paring down, the font system needed to be clearly defined. Each subbrand within the Cineplex ecosystem was using a different style and it was clear that they all needed to come into alignment.

The end result was a new fully fleshed out brand deck, equipped with a new font system, icons, illustration style, and everything else required to ensure the brand retained consistency and stayed true to it's iconic roots.

A Cineplex VIP campaign to promote their lounge as the perfect meetup spot.

I loved the experience of this shoot because it marked the first time that I truly took the lead on execution and brought a vision to life. From casting to wardrobe, from the photographer to lighting, these elements came together just as I had hoped. The end result was a warm and inviting message that aimed to change the perception of what the VIP lounge could be.
